WHAT ARE THE GARDEN TRENDS OF 2019?

Christmas will soon here!  That’s right, we’re already over half way through this year and the trends are becoming clear, including what’s popular in our garden spaces for 2019.

In 2018, ecological gardens and wood effect tiles were on the rise, but what’s taken the UK by storm in the first half of 2019 … read more:

Ambienlighting

According to the BBC’s Rich brothers, smart lighting is set to burst back onto the scene, with garden ambience being at the forefront of our plans. Their suggestion is that you position lights up against trees so that it can create an uplight effect and draw your attention to a specific area of the garden.

Treehouses for adults!

Do you have a large space to play with? If so, you may be tempted to join the growing trend of adult treehouses. We’ve all heard of the ‘man cave’ and ‘she shed’, but 2019 is set to be the year of the adult treehouse. We love a getaway, and if you have an area that allows it, why not create a rustic-looking treehouse to escape to?

The hot tub?!

In 2017 and 2018, the inflatable hot tub on sale in Aldi sent shoppers into a stir. However, this year, you can expect a more permanent addition to gardens, with plastic decking making the perfect outdoor base for a hot tub.

Firepits

As the British public continue to engage in the ‘staying in is the new going out’ craze, home entertaining is becoming extremely popular. While you might think of a fire pit as being an expensive addition to your space, think again. You can purchase mini pits for as little as £25 and the quirky idea can brighten up any area in which you entertain your guests; and, if you want a more customized appearance, many landscapers build fire pits for a fair price which is even much better. The heat that it provides will allow the party gathering to continue well into the night, meaning the cold evenings won’t even be able to put a dampener on your spirits.

Grow your own

Yes, we’ve always been a nation of grow your own veg enthusiasts, but 2019 is set to be another popular year in growing new items. The staple cabbage and tomatoes are still set to be homegrown, but it’s said that before long we will also be growing our own tea plants and herbs – great for our morning cuppa or gin and tonic!

Wallpaper!

Wallpaper

Yes, that’s right – wallpaper. Although it may sound controversial, wallpapering your outdoor space is set to become more popular and help you to bolden up your area. You can stay on trend and match your paper with your surroundings, or you can mimic your personality and dazzle your guests with outlandish prints.

Creating your own décor

Shabby chic is all the rage and we are now finding more projects to make our own in the garden. Like wallpapering, creating your own decorations will add your own personal stamp on your space and, with up-cycling becoming more popular in the home in recent years, it’s now time for the garden space to get a makeover.

While there are set to be many trends that appear in 2019, those listed above will be sneaking into more and more gardens. So, keep an eye out and see how many you spot over the next 12 months!
