Hey guys. I’ve been pretty lazy lately😅; in a way though. Well, I’ve been trying to understand some things and also trying to wrap my head around a confusing situation I’m dealing with at the moment. As you guys know, I upgraded to a paid plan and got my domain from WP meaning WP hosts my blog and everything. But, while doing some research yesterday, I found out that WP.com still has restrictions despite having a paid plan. A blogger talked about this issue but I didn’t really understand; unfortunately, now I do😅

WP still have some restrictions which unfortunately isn’t good for me because I can’t do what I want. So, in order To solve this problem, as it turns out that WP.org is the only WP platform without restrictions, I have to get hosting from another outside provider. I spent yesterday researching and try to understand everything which was a lot of work😐 and so stressful as well. Luckily, I finally found a solution but I’m stuck. There are two options;

1. I can ask for a partial refund from WP and get hosting for another provider which costs $47 from siteground; I heard it’s good as other bloggers got hosting from there. Or

2. I can pay for the hosting and leave the one I have with WP which cost me $35.88. But then again, I’m 19, I’m not a millionaire 😅 I have a budget and things to buy as well.

If I choose the first option, I’ll still remain on WP; but you can only comment on my post when you view it in your browser which isn’t a problem after all. If I choose the second, I’ll go broke😂 and it’s still the same as the first. But my biggest issue is with my theme! I just designed my blog; I can’t let it go so easily; it’s so pretty! I’ll have to do a lot of thinking. But to be fair, this isn’t really that big of a problem; I’m just making it seem that way for myself because it’s hard😅 So much work to do. I’ll keep you guys updated 😉

  1. I can understand that feeling. If your goal is to monetize, you probably need to move to .org or you stay here for a while and make passive income from WordAd or sell your own products. Whichever way, you’re doing really good and that’s awesome!

  2. If you’re on the paid plan on WordPress.COM then you just have some extra features, but not a self-hosted site (with restrictions) because you still have WordPress.com. WordPress.ORG is completely self hosted and has no restrictions, as you said, but need to get hosting, like Siteground. You do what’s best for you and your blog 🙂

  4. I had the same problem when I paid for WordPress.com. You can ask for a refund with in 30 days of paying for the upgrade. Tell them you want a refund down to the domain name payment. I use Sute ground and love them. They moved everything for me then helped me trouble shoot after. Go to abustlinghome.com to the blogging tab and I have a share link there. They might give you a credit or something for signing up I think I get a credit for next years bill too. (Abustlinghome is my mommy blog)
